Genesis 1 and 2
When I read Genesis 1 and 2, I think "Wow--there's alot in these two little chapters!" Read it for yourself and you'll see what I mean.
Did you set a goal at new year's? How's that going for you? Have you set a new goal recently? The
hardest part for me when I set a goal is getting started. I'm looking at this
hard task and wondering if I'm going to be able to really do it. So, I
think....just do it today.
And guess what I noticed.
That's exactly what God did. He just started little. Form a unshaped
ball of water from the void. Just one step. As he went along, the days
were filled with a lot more going on. By day four, He was really
going---creating all those stars and space things!!! And day
five---every kind of fish and bird---He really had stepped it up from
that one ball of water! So maybe the first lesson is....just get
started!
The other thing that struck me was the idea of
cycles. Did you catch that, too? Day 1--the cycle of the day (time
invented?). Day 2--water cycle of sorts. Day 3--plant life cycle. Day
4--seasonal cycle, months (moon), years (sun). Day 5--Fish and Bird
life cycle (eggs, short life cycles). Day 6--mammals (live births,
longer life cycles). Wonder when insects came in? So life as a cycle
was very much a part of the plan. I've heard that God doesn't mind
doing the same thing over and over again. He glories in changing it up
just a bit, but keeping that same routine. Makes me ponder over the
things that I get bored with doing over and over again.
One
thing I'm sure of---I'm glad I woke up this morning (my daily cycle
begins) and I'm glad I got started with this project. It sure seems
like an easy one, now that I compare it with the one God set out to
do!! Thanks, God, for not stopping too soon. Please help me do the
same!!
