"All-ee, All-ee, All Come Free"
John 1: 43-51
Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18
So what's so special about this "Christianity Club"?.......
Everybody gets to join!!! Jesus wants everybody to sit with him in the cafeteria! You know that feeling from middle school or high school or even college--when you've gotten your tray but you don't know if anyone will want you to sit at their table. Whole movies and books have been made about the fear we have of not being wanted. I know from personal experience that many of us never out-grow that feeling that we might not be excepted. But that is not the way it is in this club. Jesus wants everybody!
Andrew, the disciple, was like this, too. "Hey---come here!! Look who I met! Come on over here! Sit with us! Get to know my Jesus!" And that attitude is contagious! Philip tried it with Nathaniel. But everyone doesn't just get up and go. Nathaniel didn't--he was a little like Thomas, who would appear on the scenes later. Nathaniel questioned. His core was telling him, "Hey don't try to fool me. I've studied about this. I know about this. Just anyone won't fit the bill." But Jesus convinced him easily when Nathaniel realized that He really knew Nathaniel already, just as in Psalms (which Nathaniel had studied). This man, Jesus, knew things about Nathaniel before he was formed and He knew that Nathaniel would count on his studies to know the truth, so He used scriptural references.
He knows you the same way. He knows what kind of person you are. He knows what convinces you and what's important to you. In our youth Sunday School class, they are studying Spiritual Pathways or learning styles. Jesus knows which one is your style--He created you that way!! And He keeps creating experiences just for you to guide you to this place and this time, even to these words, so that you will know Him and be with Him. For He has promised to be with you----always, always, always!
From an unknown substance (basically much of our lives are still unknown and unformed), He still has His hand on you, is still guiding you with the events of your life. You are still to Him as soft clay that can still be changed. And He will be with you after you leave the vessel that is your body.
We must remember that Jesus once lived in a similar vessel. He also was born. He laughed. He grew. He cried. He played.......So, you wantta come play?
All-ee, All-ee, All Come Free!!!
