Do you think the man was angry when he sliced off the soldier’s ear during Jesus’ arrest?  Read Luke 22.

What was the man feeling?

What does anger often lead to?

The Pharisees and Saducees seemed to get angry very easily---
·      Matthew 21:15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the works of power which he did, and the children crying out in the Temple, Glory to the son of David, they were ANGRY and said to him,…
·      Luke 4:28 And all who were in the Synagogue were very ANGRY when these things were said to them. …
·      Luke 6:11 But they were full of wrath, and were talking together about what they might do to Jesus.
·      Luke 11:53 As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly ANGRY, and to draw many things out of him;
·      Luke 13:14 And the ruler of the Synagogue was ANGRY because Jesus had made her well on the Sabbath, and he said to the people, There are six days in which men may do work: so come on those days to be made well, and not on the Sabbath.
·      Luke 15:2 And the Pharisees and scribes were ANGRY, saying, This man gives approval to sinners, and takes food with them.

What were they really angry about?

Who do you know that gets angry easily?  Play psychiatrist or counselor for a minute and write down why you think this happens?

Even Jesus got angry at times.  Here are a few:
·      Mark 3:5 And looking round on them he was ANGRY, being sad because of their hard hearts; and he said to the man, Put out your hand. And he put it out, and his hand was made well. (BBE)
·      Mark 8:33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns."
·      Mark 10:14 And when Jesus saw it, he was ANGRY, and said to them, Let the little children come to me, and do not keep them away; for of such is the kingdom of God. (BBE)

When is anger acceptable?
